A registration statement has been filed with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a new exchange traded fund (ETF) which will invest among other traditional investments in bitcoin futures. The fund’s portfolio includes bitcoin futures trading on the Cboe Futures Exchange (Cboe Mercantile Exchange) as well sovereign debts, money market mutual funds.

Reality Shares ETF Trust filed on Monday a registration declaration with the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an ETF which will invest in Bitcoin futures as part it’s investment strategies. The Reality Shares Blockforce Global Currency Strategy ETF, which will be actively managed, will be listed on NYSE Arca. Its filing states that the fund was “designed to provide exposure to global currencies both fiat and virtual.”

The new ETF proposed will invest in a portfolio that includes “high-quality, short term (no more than 18 months maturity), sovereign debt instruments” which can be traded on U.S. stock exchanges in U.S. dollar, euro, British pounds, Japanese Yuan, Swiss francs and U.S. dollars. It will also invest in bitcoin futures contracts with different maturities that can be traded on U.S. Exchanges and which provide exposure to price movements of Bitcoin,” as well “money market mutual fund and/or other cash alternatives.”.
